In 1957, she enlisted in the U.S. Army WAC Division, were she served in the Chemical Warfare Engineer Department in Germany and Fort Dix, New Jersey. In 1959, while serving in the Military, she was crowned Ms. World Fort Dix. During her early years in Hawaii, Dianne made a career working in radio advertising for Waipahu’s Country Radio Station, KAHU Radio. The early 70s found her falling in love with a local boy, Russell Mikami, whom she married, and they raised their beautiful daughters among many family and friends in Waipahu, Hawaii. In the late 70s, she found her calling working as a dispatcher for the Honolulu Police Department. After her girls were grown, her next chapter in her life brought her to Kauai. She helped establish Kong Radio Station and then became a major role in FM97. Dianne was responsible for many FM97 radio contests including creating FM97’s Catch a Rising Star, FM97’s Super Bowl Party, and everyone’s favorite FM97’s Halloween Party.
Unfortunately, the years caught up with her, and she took an early retirement in both her job and her life.
