Gary Yates finally succumbed to the Kauai Interscholastic Federation baseball game because he had to drive so far, and it was way past how long he was up at the battle between Kapaa and Kauai high schools’ baseball teams at Vidinha Stadium (much mahalo to Department of Parks and Recreation Director Patrick Porter for allowing the lights to stay on past 10 p.m.!).

Eric Sakazaki (and Marvin) came after watching the Menehune play the Voyagers at Hanapepe Stadium, and Eric left before the game was called. Also, Waimea Coach Brandon Moises and Athletic Director Dino Pabre came too after the Hanapepe game where Waimea beat Island School, 20-0, Eric said.

Tommy Rita had to leave early — before Kapaa took a 4-2 bulge. But he probably knows the final outcome before he gets to Friday coffee at the Kukui Grove food court. And, it was definitely nice to see the return of Kauai High School Athletic Director Kelii Morgado … so how did trainer Kevin Cadiente make it through the marathon baseball and still be at the qualifying Central Pacific Bank KIF tennis matches on time?

Kudos, First Hawaiian Bank for allowing the Honolulu representatives to view the new Hokulei Village branch ahead of participating in the Kauai Job Fair where Caitlin Fowlkes of the Kauai Community College will be taking her vacation in time for the college’s Commencement Exercises, and the Koloa Landing Resort (they’re the site of Kumu Troy Lazaro’s May Day hoike; doors to the craft fair open at 4:30 p.m.), the Royal Sonesta Kauai Beach Resort (they did a beach clean-up on Tuesday!), and 1 Hanalei were some of the resorts with opportunities available.
