KEKAHA — The St. Theresa School Carnival, the school’s biggest fundraiser of the year, takes place on Friday and Saturday from 6 to 10 p.m.

Proceeds from the carnival are used toward the school’s efforts to provide a quality academic and values-based education for all keiki on the West Side. Some of the school’s initiatives include student scholarships, the purchase of new equipment, facility improvements, and the advancement of educational programs.

One of the food vendors, the West Kauai Methodist Church, said they couldn’t afford the Waimea Town Celebration fees so instead will be bringing their menu of malasadas, pronto pups and more to the St. Theresa School Carnival.

The event offer families a variety of games, prizes, a silent auction, country store and more.

“Malasadas hot and golden brown, Sugar sprinkled all around,” STS learner Adonis Ballesteros wrote in her award-winning poetry. “Huli huli chicken, tender and sweet, The favorite here are quite a treat.”

The Country Store features “yummy” homemade baked goods, local kine snacks, preserves and pickled items along with creative handmade crafts, fresh-from-the-garden plants and veggies, and a selection of new, unused household items and kitchen utensils.

The silent auction will be offering a variety of big and small ticket items. Some of the previous carnival offerings include luxury hotel stays, some of Kauai’s finest dining spots, boat tours, and unique treasures like artwork, clothing, furniture and spa certificates.

“Come on down to STS Carnival,” said St. Theresa School “learner” Adonis Ballesteros in her Poetry Contest winning entry. “It’s always a really fun festival, There are lots of prizes to win, So much excitement, let the fun begin.”

The contest was sponsored by the STS Ohana Association and Ballestero’s winning entry will be used in radio advertisements to promote the carnival.

STS instructor Wendy Castillo said there will be fun for the entire family.

“On Friday, we are featuring fabulous bands, including Kauai Kollab, Rumba de Fuego, MLK Filipino dancers, Pico de Gallo, Tsunami Taiko, and more,” Castillo said.

St. Theresa School students will be entertaining on Friday.
