KAPAA — On Wednesday, a 54-year-old San Diego visitor was rescued from Hoopii Falls Trail.
Fire officials reported that on April 23, shortly before 11:15 a.m., firefighters with the Kaiakea Fire Station, American Medical Response (AMR), along with the on-duty Battalion Chief, were dispatched to a call regarding a distressed hiker on Hoopii Falls Trail.
First responders arrived and discovered the hiker on the trail with an apparent ankle injury from a fall. The male hiker was then loaded onto a litter, transferring care to AMR personnel. Medical care then took command of the scene and continued advanced medical treatment on the hiker before transporting him to the Wilcox Medical Center in Lihue.
The scene was cleared shortly before 1 p.m.
