Man apprehended after stabbing incident in Kapaa

KAPAA — Law enforcement apprehended a man after a stabbing at a parking lot in Kapaa on Wednesday.

Officials report that at approximately 8:40 a.m. on April 2, officers were dispatched to the Kapaa Shopping Center after reports of a stabbing in the parking lot.

Once on the scene, officers discovered that a 75-year-old man had been attacked with a knife. It was also noted that several bystanders intervened and assisted the victim. The man sustained multiple stab wounds and was transported to the Wilcox Medical Center in Lihue, where he remains in stable condition.

The suspect, 76-year-old Ivo Miller, was taken into custody without incident and was arrested and charged with Terroristic Threatening in the First Degree and Assault in the First Degree. He remains in custody, with his bail set at $100,000.

Police also noted that Miller has no known permanent address.

Law enforcement thanked the bystanders who intervened and assisted the victim.
